Prokris (Πρόκριδος) was the eldest of the fifty daughters of Thespius King of Thespiae, Boeotia. When Herakles came to stay in Thespiae, Thespius who intended to have all fifty of his daughters impregnated by the great hero Herakles told him "you may have my eldest daughter Prokris as your bedfellow." Herakles did in fact only sleep with Herakles for one night. Since Herakles would always return to the palace tired, he did not realize that each night one of Prokris' sisters was taking her place so that in addition to Prokris all fourty-nine others were pregnant with children of the great hero. Unlike her sisters, Prokris would bare not one but two sons Antileon and Hippeus.
